Benzodiazepines contain a class of drugs frequently prescribed for the relief of anxiety. Common benzodiazepines comprise Tavor, Valium, Rivotril, and Ativan. Each of these medications operates on the central nervous system to promote the effects of a neurotransmitter known as GABA. This produces in a calming effect, decreasing feelings of anxiety.
